Wim Hof Breathwork is a specific pattern of breathing scientifically proven to calm the nervous system and help people become more resilient to stress, making them feel more control of their mental and physical selves. Wim Hof, a Dutch extreme athlete, founded the approach, which focuses on reconnecting the body to its natural environment and flooding it with oxygen.

Wim Hof Breathwork only takes 15 minutes to work, although some stretch it to 30. It requires you to take 30-40 deep breaths in a pattern, then perform a pattern of holding your breath. You can repeat the cycle as many times as necessary.

When used for mental health treatment, Wim Hof Breathwork induces a fight or flight state that you can then process and work through. Working through this response in a controlled environment teaches you how to respond when it happens outside of a breathwork session.
