Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Overcome your co-occurring disorders at one of the best dual diagnosis treatment centers in Tennessee.
Nearly a Third of People With Mental Health Conditions Also Have Co-Occurring Disorders
Similarly, almost half of individuals with a severe mental illness live with addiction or substance use problems. If you’re struggling with conditions like anxiety or depression, it can be easy to turn to substances like drugs or alcohol to cope. Yet sadly, these substances only compound your struggles, often causing addictions and heightening your mental health challenges.
When you have co-occurring disorders like the ones mentioned above, it’s vital you work with dual diagnosis treatment centers that can address both conditions—otherwise your underlying issues will only get worse. At Integrative Life Center, our comprehensive dual diagnosis rehab approach addresses both issues together, giving you the best chance at long-term recovery.

What is a Dual Diagnosis?
A dual diagnosis results when you have both a mental health condition and a substance use disorder at the same time, called co-occurring disorders.
Some examples of common co-occurring disorders include:
- Depression and substance use
- Anxiety and substance use
- Trauma and substance use
- Eating disorders and substance use
- Bipolar disorder and substance use
Signs You May Need to Partner With a Dual Diagnosis Treatment Center
Often you may not even realize the complex underlying issues causing your addiction. But if you are living with co-occurring disorders, daily functioning can be difficult. Signs you may have a dual diagnosis include:
- Difficulty with friendships and relationships
- Financial problems
- Legal problems
- Extreme mood swings
- Angry, violent, or risky behavior
- Difficulty holding a job
- Inability to concentrate
- Using drugs or alcohol to feel better
With any co-occurring disorders, you must treat both conditions. That’s why our dual diagnosis rehab program at Integrative Life Center takes a whole-person approach to therapy, so you can have confidence that lasting healing is possible.

What to Expect in Dual Diagnosis Treatment
When undergoing dual diagnosis treatment, you address the more serious condition first. Generally, this means that the client will detox from any alcohol or drugs in their system, then enter treatment. At Integrative Life Center, we take over once detox is complete.
Once in treatment, you’ll participate in initial assessments to help us determine the best course of action for you. Residential care is often the most recommended treatment, though an outpatient dual diagnosis approach may be considered. Our expert clinicians and therapists will work closely with you to provide comprehensive care and maximize the full potential of your dual diagnosis treatment.
