Sarah Elizabeth-Ragan, PhD
Sarah Elizabeth-Ragan is a dedicated mental health professional whose clinical philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief that safe, supportive relationships are essential to healing and well-being. Raised in a rural Virginia community, Sarah’s early environment sparked a desire to explore diverse perspectives and pursue higher education. As a first-generation college student, she earned her undergraduate degree in Virginia before expanding her horizons through graduate studies in New York City. This transition not only broadened her cultural awareness but also strengthened her resilience and deepened her understanding of mental health across multicultural contexts.
Sarah continued her academic journey by earning her doctorate from Tennessee State University, a Historically Black College and University, where she further refined her trauma-informed approach to care. Her personal experiences with childhood trauma have profoundly shaped her clinical practice, fueling a commitment to help others navigate their own healing journeys.
Specializing in trauma treatment, Sarah is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and has worked extensively with both adolescents and adults. Her clinical experience spans a wide range of trauma, from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) to combat-related trauma in veterans. Sarah’s work is guided by empathy, evidence-based practices, and a passion for helping individuals rediscover joy and peace in their lives.
As Director of Clinical Services, Sarah is especially interested in supporting adults who have experienced trauma, with the hope that every person can build safe, meaningful connections that lead to fulfilling lives.
