As the country begins to open up for what will be the new “normal”, I wanted to share Integrative Life Center’s plan. With the safety measures we have instituted, we have been very fortunate that we have not had any COVID-19 cases. ILC’s response to the pandemic was swift and we went beyond the CDC protocols by providing PCR COVID-19 tests to all incoming clients and new staff. This reduced the risk considerably. We are committed to providing a safe treatment experience for our clients and staff. Our protocols are working and we will continue to follow them.
Sandro Galea, MD, from Boston University School of Public Health, and colleagues wrote in JAMA Internal Medicine: “…large scale disasters, whether traumatic (e.g., the World Trade Center attacks or mass shootings), natural (e.g., hurricanes), or environmental (e.g., Deepwater Horizon oil spill), are almost always accompanied by increases in depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorder, a broad range of other mental and behavioral disorders, domestic violence, and child abuse.”
This article describes our experience. During this pandemic, we have had more calls and admissions than ever before. Integrative Life Center is prepared and evolving to meet the needs of our clients. We will continue to offer a variety of programming options:
- Residential Treatment programming will be face to face. Our programs are small (twelve beds for women on a 25-acre estate; eight beds for men on five acres). COVID-19 testing will be required prior to admitting.
- Extended Care Treatment (PHP and IOP with supportive housing). Programming will also be face-to-face with housing limited to eight beds for women and eight beds for men. COVID-19 testing will be required prior to admitting.
- Telehealth options for IOP will continue to be available (depending on your state’s regulations)
- Sex Addiction Intensives for men. Our partner at Begin Again Institute in Colorado will provide face-to-face intensives for up to twelve men starting in June. COVID-19 testing will be required prior to admitting.
Whether you’re a client, family member of a client, or treatment industry professional, we want to extend our deepest gratitude for sticking with us and trusting us during this time. We do not take that trust for granted and will continue to be vigilant in protecting our clients and staff with ongoing protocols in regard to public health.
Be well,
Christi Cessna
