Teresa M. Shakir, LCSW
Program Director
Teresa began her journey to healing work at a young age within her family of origin. These early experiences led her to find interest in psychology and clinical social work. Teresa completed her formal education from Smith College in 2017 earning her Masters of Social Work and has since provided skilled support to survivors of trauma through a variety of therapeutic approaches. She practices from an interpersonal, and whole person approach and deeply understands that family attachment styles tend to follow individuals into adulthood if left unexamined. Teresa is trained in Compassion Based Meditation techniques, EMDR, and Brainspotting. She is accompanied most days by her fluffy companion and therapy dog, Koda Bear, who loves to be petted, snuggled, and go on long walks.
“I have been so fortunate to work with individuals from many different backgrounds and life experiences. Their stories and impact on my life has guided me to being the Program Director at ILC Chattanooga. I hope to continue supporting individuals on their path to healing through the creation and expansion of excellent trauma informed and whole-bodied therapies here at Integrative Life Center Chattanooga.”
“I have always wanted to support others in meeting their full potential. To me this means supporting others in seeing themselves as whole and beautifully flawed. When we can fully acknowledge and love all parts of ourselves, we are so much closer to that potential”
